Anthropic Unveils Claude Agents for Financial Services

Anthropic has released ten production-ready financial services agents designed to take on the most labor-intensive work in finance — from building pitchbooks and screening KYC files to closing the books at month-end. The templates are available now, and Anthropic says firms can move from setup to real financial work in days rather than months.

What the Finance Agent Templates Cover

Each agent template bundles three components: task-specific skills and domain knowledge, governed connectors to the data the task runs on, and subagents — additional Claude models called in for discrete sub-tasks such as comparables selection or methodology checks. Firms can adapt any template to their own modeling conventions, risk policies, and approval workflows.

The ten templates split across two categories. On the research and client coverage side: a Pitch Builder that runs comparables and drafts pitchbooks, a Meeting Preparer for assembling client briefs, an Earnings Reviewer that reads filings and flags thesis-relevant changes, a Model Builder for creating financial models from data feeds, and a Market Researcher that synthesizes news and broker research for credit and risk review.

For finance and operations, Anthropic added a Valuation Reviewer, a General Ledger Reconciler, a Month-End Closer that handles journal entries and close reports, a Statement Auditor for audit-readiness checks, and a KYC Screener that packages escalations for compliance review.

Each template runs either as a plugin inside Claude Cowork or Claude Code for analysts working on their desktop, or as a Claude Managed Agent on the Claude Platform for autonomous, large-scale work such as a nightly processing schedule or a full book of deals. The Claude Managed Agents path includes long-running sessions, per-tool permissions, managed credential vaults, and a full audit log inside the Claude Console. All templates are available at the Anthropic financial services marketplace.

Anthropic notes these agents are optimized for Claude Opus 4.7, which currently tops the Vals AI Finance Agent benchmark at 64.37% — an industry-wide independent evaluation that scores AI models on real financial reasoning tasks, making it a meaningful signal for firms comparing model choices.

Microsoft 365 Add-Ins and a Broader Data Ecosystem

Claude now works natively inside Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word through dedicated add-ins, with Outlook support arriving soon. Context carries automatically between applications — an analyst who builds a model in Excel does not need to re-explain anything when the work moves into a PowerPoint deck. Inside Claude Cowork, a Dispatch feature also lets users assign tasks to Claude by text or voice while away from their desk.

Anthropic is expanding its data partner ecosystem with eight new connectors, giving Claude governed, real-time access to external data. New additions include Dun & Bradstreet for verified business identity, Fiscal AI for public equities coverage, Financial Modeling Prep for quotes and filings, Guidepoint for expert interview transcripts, IBISWorld for industry-level financial data, SS&C IntraLinks for deal room access, Third Bridge for primary-source expert interviews, and Verisk for insurance underwriting data. Moody's has also launched an MCP app that surfaces proprietary credit ratings and data on over 600 million public and private companies directly inside Claude.

Early Adoption Among Major Financial Institutions

Several large financial firms have already moved beyond pilots. Citadel's Head of Core Engineering noted that analysts are using Claude for Excel to build and update coverage models and pressure-test their work with a meaningful step up in efficiency. FIS CEO Stephanie Ferris said the company is using Claude to compress AML investigations from days to minutes. Mizuho's Banking COO described how Claude transforms meeting prep time into idea time, delivering richer client insights ahead of calls.

Hedge fund Walleye Capital reported that 100% of its roughly 400 employees now use Claude Code — a level of firm-wide adoption that reflects what its CEO called an AI-first mindset across both technical and non-technical roles. Private equity firm Carlyle cited Claude's agentic reasoning as a core tool across investing, operations, and portfolio management.

What Financial Firms Should Watch Next

The Claude for Outlook add-in is the one piece not yet generally available, though Anthropic has confirmed it is coming soon. Firms evaluating deployment can choose between the plugin route through Cowork or Claude Code and the programmatic Claude Managed Agents path, currently in public beta. Anthropic is hosting a livestreamed keynote and a hands-on webinar for teams that want a closer look before committing. Full details are available at Anthropic's financial services announcement.
